Community Engagement Committee
The Community Engagement Committee’s goal is to create opportunities for members to utilize their skills and expertise in ways that benefit communities of color and the built environment. Such as:
Volunteering in Days of Service events for non-profit and cultural-based organizations.
Building intentional partnerships with local organizations that serve BIPOC communities.
The committee meets on the second Monday of each month at 12p PST.
The Youth Engagement/Project Pipeline Committee’s goal is to empower young people to affect change in their community through design.
Planning an annual Architecture Summer Camp introducing architecture and design to middle school students
Creating additional opportunities for K-12 students such as workshops and activities exploring architecture, design, design justice, and related fields.
The committee meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 12p PST.

KAPWA BIPOC NATURE SANCTUARY
The Kapwa Nature Sanctuary seeks to create free, supportive and safe sanctuaries that are spaces to heal, rest, create, find inspiration, and build community.
NOMA PDX has been collaborating with Kapwa Nature Sanctuary to create more spaces and resources for people of color to have equitable access to nature spaces. We are currently looking for donations of material or funds to help support the build of a tiny home retreat. build a tiny house retreat space.

Introduce Architecture to Middle School and High School Students
Tours
We plan architecture tours for organizations serving BIPOC youth organizations, such as Elevate Oregon.
Workshops
We share our skills and knowledge on topics focused on architecture, design, design justice, and related fields.
Career Fairs
We attend career fairs to give students an opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, meet local architects and designers, and ask questions about the architecture career.
